- 1 pound ground beef (85/15 for flavor)
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cans (15 ounces each) pork and beans, undrained
- 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/3 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite)
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Optional: dash of hot sauce
- Optional garnish: chopped fresh parsley or green onions
Instructions
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it apart as it browns.
- When the beef is halfway cooked, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until beef is browned and onions are tender, about 7–8 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Reduce heat to medium and stir in ketchup, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Cook for 2–3 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Add pork and beans, kidney beans, and black beans. Stir gently to combine.
- Simmer on low for 30 minutes, covered, stirring occasionally.
Transfer to a baking dish, cover with foil, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes. - If desired, uncover for the last 10 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Garnish with parsley or green onions before serving, if desired.

- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or chipotle powder.
- For a smoky flavor boost, stir in cooked bacon pieces.
