  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

  1. Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. Slice the sausage into rounds, and chop the bacon into small pieces.
  3. Mince the garlic and finely chop the onion.
  4. Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel and season lightly with salt and pepper.

Step 2: Cook the Bacon and Sausage

  1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy.
  2. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. In the same pan, add the sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside with the bacon.

Step 3: Sauté the Shrimp

  1. In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of butter.
  2. Add the shrimp and cook for about 2 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque.
  3. Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside with the bacon and sausage.

Step 4: Cook the Cabbage

  1. In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon olive oil and the chopped onion.
  2. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage and stir well to coat it in the oil.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and apple cider vinegar, then cover and let the cabbage cook for about 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5: Season and Combine

  1. Uncover the skillet and add the smoked paprika, Cajun seasoning, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  2. Stir well, then add the cooked bacon, sausage, and shrimp back to the pan.
  3. Mix everything together and let it cook for another 3–5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Step 6: Serve and Garnish

  1. Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley.
  2. Serve hot as a standalone dish or with cornbread or rice for a complete meal.
